Welcome!
The International Society for Law and Technology (ISLAT) is a non-profit organization that was founded in 2001 in Anaheim, California, USA. ISLAT is dedicated to improving the understanding of the complex inter-relationships between innovations in technology and their corresponding impact on the law. Through conferences, ISLAT promotes the regular exchange of ideas and information related to the intersection of law and technology.
The vision of creating a society to explore the interactions between these two dynamic fields began with two international conferences on Law and Technology. LawTech '99 was held in Honolulu, Hawaii and LawTech 2000 in San Francisco, California. From the interest generated by these conferences, the ISLAT Board of Directors was formed with the purpose of addressing the connection between technology and the law through meetings, conferences, and publications.
Become part of the ISLAT community—a global, networked community of academics and professionals willing to explore and debate the legal, technical, cultural and political impacts of new technology.
